Let's discuss what people really mean when they say "Sleep Like a Baby." It couldn't possibly mean grunting ferociously, waking intermittently, and peeing through pajamas, right? Right? To be fair, we have noticed a much-prized decrease in the early morning grunting, and we have been blessed with 2 nights of 7-hour sleeping stints. But more and more it is occurring to us that babies must be coached into learning that they don't have to wake up at the end of their short sleep cycles. It seems they don't come into this world knowing how to self-soothe themselves over those small glitches in an otherwise sound night of sleep. It is also occurring to me that our family as a whole will be happier if I am able to sleep uninterrupted through the night. So... how and when to teach him? The question keeps me up at night!
